The penthouse at the exclusive and soon-to-be completed No.1 Grosvenor Square, formerly the U.S. Embassy, has sold for a reported £140 million, according to a statement from Lodha U.K.

Lodha U.K., the developer behind the luxury residential project announced that the deal was finalized “very recently,” as reported in Mansion Global. If true the sale will stand as the second-pricest deal in the U.K. this year behind January’s sale of a 20-bedroom Knightsbridge Rutland Gate mansion which according to property records sold for £200 million.

Situated in the affluent Mayfair area and located just a stone’s throw from the world’s most desirable streets, Michelin-starred restaurants and exclusive private members’ clubs, the super-prime development, which is scheduled for completion in December will become home to 44 luxury residences.

The high-end development which was once the home to the U.S. embassy, and John F. Kennedy in the 1930s when his father, Joseph P. Kennedy, was appointed U.S. Ambassador to the U.K has since undergone a complete remodel and renovation. For the new residents, the building includes an Oval Office replica which aims to incorporate the history of the building into the design. The building will also have five-star 24-hour concierge, embassy-level security throughout, and discreet and private drop off with residents’ lobby off Grosvenor Street. Other amenities include: a dedicated lifestyle floor full of amenities, including a 25m heated pool, hot vitality pool, cool plunge pool and ‘experience showers’, state-of-the-art gym with personal training room, private spa and treatment rooms, private library, lounge bar with billiard table, private cinema and performance venue.
