Since the introduction of the Help to Buy: Equity Loan in 2013, 278,639 properties have been purchased through the government-backed scheme, with 25,299 of these purchases made in London. Now, with the Help to Buy scheme changing to be limited to first-time buyers only, Inland Homes is providing extra support to those looking to get a foot on the property ladder using this valuable homebuying scheme. Under the revised London Help to Buy scheme, the Government lends first-time buyers up to 40% of the cost of a newly built home up to the value of £600,000. This translates to prospective property purchasers requiring only a 5% deposit, with a 55% mortgage to make up the rest. Purchasers will not be charged loan fees on the 40% for the first five years of owning their home in the UK.
