Scientific wellness and sustainable beer lifestyle operators unveiled at South Quay Plaza

Editorial Team | 26th November, 2020

Acclaimed developer Berkeley is leading the way with the new wave of must-have amenity operators at its South Quay Plaza development, which is moments from Canary Wharf and is aimed at creating a truly holistic lifestyle offering for residents to enjoy.

The state-of-the-art fitness facilities will be managed by scientific wellness provider Antidote, while the key beverage suppliers in the bar and dining areas will be from Hiver, marking the craft beer company’s first offering at a residential development, and independent wine bar Humble Grape. The providers embody the spirit of the Quay Club, South Quay Plaza’s diverse and comprehensive amenities offering, which has communal areas designed by DAPA Interiors, focusing on timeless elegance with a nod to the area’s industrial heritage. The Quay Club includes wellness-centred fitness facilities and one of Europe’s highest residential bars.

Antidote, from the Health Concierge, offers a scientific approach to wellness, with a combination of in person and online at-home classes to adapt to residents’ preferences. The extensive fitness provision includes a gymnasium with cardio machines, free weights, stretching areas and regular fitness classes for residents, in addition to the double height 140sqm swimming pool. The treatment rooms will provide a range of luxury spa and beauty therapies, in addition to bookable appointments with physiotherapists and osteopaths.

Hiver’s range of craft beers will be available at the bar and dining areas, with drinks packages and tutored tastings for residents, and exclusive early access to events including their sell-out beekeeping experiences in southeast London. The drinks packages will include a ‘self-pour’ option with two different beers available; Hiver’s flagship gold medal-winning blonde honey beer, and Fabal, an artisanal English lager made using English malted barleys. Hiver’s range is produced using sustainable methods and local ingredients.

Residents will also be supplied with top-up cards for Humble Grape’s by-the-glass wine dispensers, offering a range of specially selected varieties which will change regularly, giving the opportunity to sample different sustainably-produced wines. Humble Grape will also run tastings at the Quay Club, as well as residents receiving discounts on other Humble Grape experiences.

The 56th floor terrace is one of the key features of the Quay Club, occupying half of the floor space of the Residents’ Club Lounge. The terrace has its own bar and kitchen, decorated with dark woods and low-level furniture to maximise the views available. The amenities also include a Foster + Partners designed bar, outside BBQ grill station, relaxed seating areas, a screening room, TV wall/library and conference room, which all offer panoramas of Canary Wharf, the Thames, the City and beyond. (Some features such as the screening room, dining room and outside grill station must be booked in advance and only caterers can use the kitchen facilities).

When complete, South Quay Plaza will provide over 1,300 stunning new homes. The apartments themselves benefit from elevated vistas across the London skyline, an unrivalled specification and contemporary, stylish interiors. Boasting a 24 hour concierge and set within 2.6 acres of beautifully-landscaped green space, residents will be able to enjoy a relaxed lifestyle with quick access to the wide variety of retailers and restaurants at Canary Wharf and the wider city.

Hannah Rhodes, Founder at Hiver Beers, comments: “Today’s consumers are increasingly discerning in their tastes and more eco conscious than ever, so we are excited to be partnering with South Quay Plaza for our first ever private residential offering. The Quay Club has a fantastic range of spaces for people to enjoy and the beers will help to set the scene as residents enjoy relaxing on the terrace or taking part in tutored tastings and getting to know their neighbours. With our low carbon footprint and ethical sourcing, they can enjoy a beer that tastes great but is also local and sustainable.”

Dr. Errol Richardson, Co-Founder at Antidote, comments, “The wellbeing services will provide a truly personalised approach, offering vital flexibility for residents at South Quay Plaza. All of our services will be available online and in person, allowing residents to enjoy the wellness experience at the development on their own terms and timetable. We will also be hosting a timetable of boutique classes including yoga, Barre, meditation and boxing, and rather than leaning on existing on-demand workout providers, we will be producing content in-house with our wider team of experts, which residents can access 24/7.”

Justin Tibaldi, Divisional Managing Director at Berkeley Group, comments: “This new generation of lifestyle providers at South Quay Plaza will enrich the experience of those who buy a home here. Antidote’s in-depth, scientifically-focused approach to wellbeing will ensure residents are getting the very best fitness experience available, while Hiver is an exciting and locally-based craft beer with excellent sustainable credentials, an element of great importance to us at Berkeley Homes. We are certain that all partners will be very popular with our residents.”

South Quay Plaza benefits from great transport links, adjacent to South Quay DLR and just 500m from Canary Wharf underground station (Jubilee Line). A new footbridge will connect the development to Canary Wharf Crossrail station in under four minutes, where the Elizabeth Line will become operational in 2021. The development is a short journey from London City Airport with easy access to the Thames Clipper boat services.

Apartments at South Quay Plaza start from £855,000 for a one-bedroom home while the new Executive Collection starts from £2.135 million. Completion is set for 2021.
